So I tried the Walken thing for awhile, now I want to start another series. This one I’m calling artificial-life-form Fridays. I’ll be taking a look at any and all androids, robots or cyborgs I can think of. They can come from movies, television shows, cartoons, comics, books or just about anywhere else. I’ll do a different one every Friday. That should keep me busy for awhile. I’ll start off this first installment with Rosie, the robotic maid from the cartoon ‘The Jetsons’.

A Difficult Post

I wasn't sure if I wanted to post this or not. But we all handle pain in our own ways and for me, putting it here helps.

Macy Bella Ganz, a wonderfully tough and beautiful little girl lost her battle with cancer this past Friday 8/6. The news was devastating for many, myself included. I mentioned Macy back quite awhile ago when she was first showing signs of winning the battle. Michelle, her mom, would continually update their blog so that others, everywhere, could follow what they went through. Click here for her blog.

I recently had a chance to go to a little restaurant I had never been to before by the name of Kuma’s Korner. Kuma’s is a gourmet burger restaurant with a heavy metal theme. I first heard about it from a friend of mine who said they had great burgers and was a lot of fun. I figured what the hell, I like burgers, let’s do it!

Chicago Blackhawks - Stanley Cup Champions

Just today, a little while ago, The Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. I wasn't able to watch the entire game but I did get to see the end and the final OT goal that won the game.

Bacon Bits!

Man I love bacon. Did I mention that already? Like I said before, who doesn’t? But if I thought I loved bacon I can’t even describe what these guys feel for bacon. These guys at J&D’s Everything Should Taste Like Bacon (jdfoods.net) have created some amazing bacon products. Now I have not personally tried any of their products but I intend to. Fact is I don’t even know how I didn’t know this stuff existed.

Bacon Bits!

So who doesn't like bacon? Ok now before any vegetarians, vegans or members of PETA start harassing me.......please don't. If you do not wish to eat meat, don't. I on the other hand like meat and bacon is very, very good. I'm not sure anyone can actually deny that. But I digress.

I think bacon is awesome. In fact I think bacon makes just about any food better. Come on now, what other food do you use to enhance other foods and yet still has a place to be its' own meal, BLTs are yummy. Anyway a friend of mine sent this image to me which struck me as pretty funny. I think in fact I like bacon so much I will make it part of regular post. Hey it is called 'Porkchop Express' after all.

Saturday is Walken Day! Number 8 (HA! I Got It Up On a Saturday For Once)

Ok a little something differnt this time. Walken has hosted 'Saturday Night Live' many times. When he's on you can be sure it will be a funny episode. Well sometimes they do dress rehersals the same evening before the show is on and record them so see how the response was from the audiance. Some skits never make it on the air like this one but I'm glad someone posted it. It's pretty funny, in my opion. Enjoy 'The Angel of Death' skit.

On the heels of yesterday post I wanted to add the story by my friend Joe. Joe and I did this as a little exercise in writing. We came up with this idea after actually watching the bashing of a Piñata at a kids party. We both wrote our stories and then exchanged them. It's funny how similar we were on some parts of our stories, yet had enough different about them to make them unique. Lot of fun this was. Give it a try some time. I now give you:

Review - Doctor Who: The Witch Hunters

This review is about “Doctor Who: The Witch Hunters”, the second Doctor Who book I have reviewed. This is a BBC publication dealing with a classic Doctor Who story but not corresponding with any of the shows. It deals with the first incarnation of the Doctor and his first companions Susan, Barbara and Ian. This book is out of production and I had a little trouble finding it but finally tracked one down on Amazon. I got it for just about $5 and with shipping came up to just under $10. A little pricey for a paperback book but going to dealers and looking online at some specialty stores I couldn’t find one for under $30 so I was fairly happy to find it.

Review - Jersey Boys

So after 2 long years of an open run the show Jersey Boys was coming to a close. I figured if I wanted to see it now would be the time. Jersey Boys is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons rise to fame. It starts back from the very creation of the group leading all the way up to what is the current state of the four original members of the group.

Tight Workspace?

So is your workspace to tight? They don't allow you to have enough individuality? Pfft!! Get over it. Think you got it bad? You don't have it nearly as bad as these folks!

Review - Battlestar Galactica: Volume 1

This is my review of the graphic novel Battlestar Galactica: Volume 1. I’ve mentioned before about how much better graphic novels look on a bookshelf than regular comic books and this one maintains my thought about that. However there is one little extra thing to this graphic novel, this is a hardcover book. My copy came with a dust jacket with a photo of the actress Tricia Helfer on the cover. The actual cover of the book has a black gloss finish with the Battlestar Galactica emblem in the middle. Looks good with or without the dust jacket. I got my copy from Cinequest.com earlier this year as an impulse buy.

Review - Kindle Ereader Part II

Ok so I wrote up a post about the Kindle Ereader before but I did not have one. I was very excited about the prospects of getting one so I finally decided to go out and get one. That post was speculation about how it would be going with the product specifications about the Kindle from Amazon’s website. Now that I have one and have had a little time to work with it (and by work with it I mean play with it) I thought it would be a good idea to give a real review about it.

Reading

So I used to like to read alot but over the past........too many years, I found I was reading less books than I ever did. In 2008 I read a grand total of 5 books with about 1100 pages of text. For 2009 I wanted to get back to more like I used to be. At one time I would read 1-2 books a week. Well I don't think I will ever get back to that kind of reading again but I did do considerably better than I have in the past. Here is a list of what I read for 2009.
